What Cahaba Forge Builds

Cahaba Forge builds Jira workflow and governance tools for teams that need clearer signoff, stronger accountability, and more usable process controls. The focus is not on adding process for its own sake. The focus is on helping teams make approvals and governance work inside Jira in a way that is practical day to day.

Business Sign-off for Jira Cloud is our first product built around that focus: a structured approval framework that can stay lightweight for everyday team use or become more controlled where stronger workflow enforcement and audit support are needed.

Why This Problem Matters

Many organizations have approval expectations, governance policies, or audit obligations that exist on paper but are difficult to execute cleanly in tooling. Teams end up relying on comments, chat threads, email approvals, or manual checklist steps that are hard to search, hard to enforce, and hard to defend later.

Cahaba Forge exists to close that gap between what teams say their process is and what their systems can actually support.

Background and Perspective

Cahaba Forge is shaped by more than 30 years of hands-on enterprise application experience in environments where approvals, traceability, and process control carry real operational weight. That includes work in regulated-industry settings where weak process execution creates downstream problems for delivery teams, administrators, and auditors alike.

That background influences how we build. The goal is not to create governance theater. The goal is to create tools that teams will actually use and that still hold up when someone asks for evidence, consistency, or stronger control.

Why Atlassian and Jira

Jira is flexible enough to support almost any work model, but flexibility alone does not create accountability. Teams often need a better way to add formal review, approval, and governance steps without redesigning their entire workflow or forcing every project into the same operating model.

Cahaba Forge builds for that middle ground: enough structure to create trust and control, without turning Jira into something teams resent using. That is the same position behind Business Sign-off: add approvals to Jira without forcing new statuses, workflow sprawl, or a heavyweight process model.

The Cahaba Name

The Cahaba River is one of the longest free-flowing rivers in the Southeast and a symbol of resilience and continuity. Combined with Birmingham’s iron-forging heritage, the name reflects the idea behind the company: tools that adapt to the way teams work while still adding strength where it matters.
